Water supply networks

Water mains and service connections in PE pipe, with hydrants, leak testing and disinfection.

Scope of work

  • Water supply networks in PE pipe, butt-fused and electrofusion welded
  • Water service connections together with the meter set
  • Pillar and underground hydrants, gate valves, junctions
  • Fire mains and feeds to firefighting water tanks
  • Flushing, disinfection and leak testing of the system
  • Water testing and handover of the network

Who we work for

Developers — an estate water main with service connections and hydrants, run in the same trench as the other utilities where the clearances allow.

Municipalities — extension and replacement of network sections, switchovers of existing connections without interrupting the water supply.

Plants and private investors — a feed to a hall, a hydrant system, a connection to the building.

How we do it

A water main ends with two procedures that cannot be skipped: the leak test and disinfection. We flush the pipeline, disinfect it and send the samples to the laboratory — only the water test result allows the network to go into service. Welds are made with a machine that logs the parameters, so every one of them can be traced later in the report.

We describe the full sequence — from survey to handover — on the home page.

Questions we get most often

Will the water be shut off during the switchover?

The interruption usually lasts a few hours and affects only the section being switched over. We agree the date with the network operator and inform users in advance.

Do you install hydrant systems?

Yes, together with pillar and underground hydrants and with feeds to firefighting water tanks.

How long does the handover of a water main take?

The leak test and disinfection themselves take a few days, but the laboratory water test result usually takes about a week. That time is worth putting into the project schedule.
