Roads

Estate, access and haul roads — from subgrade and base course to asphalt, concrete or paving block surfaces.

Scope of work

  • Subgrade excavation and formation profiling
  • Crushed aggregate base course, compacted and load-bearing tested
  • Asphalt, concrete and paving block surfaces
  • Haul roads and access roads for the construction period
  • Kerbs, edging and kerbside gutters
  • Manoeuvring yards, car parks and access crossings
  • Surface reinstatement after utility works

Who we work for

Developers — estate roads together with drainage and lighting, laid once the utility works are finished.

Municipalities — local and access roads, repairs of individual sections, yards and car parks at public buildings.

Industrial investors — haul roads, manoeuvring yards for heavy traffic, access crossings from a public road.

How we do it

A road is a set of layers, not just the surface. We start with the subgrade and check whether the ground will carry the assumed traffic at all; weak soils are replaced or stabilised. The base course is compacted with a roller and tested for load bearing, and only then do we lay the surface. That order decides whether the road lasts ten years or cracks after the first winter.

The full sequence — from survey to handover — is described on the home page.

Questions we get most often

What does surfacing a road involve?

The route is excavated to a depth matched to the ground conditions, a sand bedding layer and a geotextile are laid so that the aggregate does not mix with the soil, and then crushed aggregate — coarse crushed stone, chippings or a graded mix — is placed and compacted.

How much does a metre of access road surfacing cost?

Roughly PLN 70 to 150 per square metre. The difference comes mainly from the material used and the thickness of the layers; we give an exact price after inspecting the site.

Is a permit required to surface a road?

Surfacing the ground on a building plot requires neither a building permit nor a notification. An access crossing from a public road is different — there you need the consent of the road authority.

Which aggregate works best?

Crushed aggregates, because they interlock during compaction and form a stable layer. On weak soils it is worth adding a geotextile, and on large sites concrete road slabs work well.

How do chippings differ from coarse crushed stone?

In grain size. Chippings run from 4 to 31.5 mm, coarse crushed stone from 31.5 to 63 mm — it is the coarsest of the crushed aggregates and goes into the lower base layers.
